Toulouse is the capital of the Midi Pyrenees region in the South of France. It is located on the banks of the Garonne river, close to the Pyrenees and halfway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.It is well known for some remarkable monuments and some worldwide famous products and companies – Concorde, Airbus, Spot Aerospatiale. It also houses the City of Space which is on the outskirts of the City and easily reached from the ring road (Peripherique).The warm glow of red bricks and tiles gives Toulouse its nickname, “La Ville Rose” (the rose red City). Culture is a keyword in Toulouse and the city is proud of its operatic traditions and has long nurtured music, entertainment, dance, theatre and concerts by the Orchestre du Capitole. Sport is also a tradition here, especially rugby, Toulouse being the main city for this sport in France. |
